Young Frankenstein is a hilarious musical comedy that brings Mel Brooks' classic film to the stage. Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, inherits his infamous grandfather’s castle in Transylvania. Despite his initial reluctance, Frederick gets pulled into the family business of reanimating the dead, leading to hilarious antics with the help of his quirky assistants, Igor and Inga, and the mysterious housekeeper Frau Blücher. With catchy songs and plenty of laughs, this musical is a fun and lively take on the classic horror story.

SYNOPSIS

AUDITION INFORMATION

HOW TO AUDITION

To be considered for casting, all individuals must audition in person and also be available for callbacks if selected.

Since there may be some members of the cast may be under 18, all cast-members will be required to have their clearances. This will be need to be presented to the stage manager and production crew when requested.

AUDITION TIMES

In The Heights auditions will be held as open call sessions. Please come prepared to sing, dance and cold read sides. Headshots and resumes are preferred, if applicable, to casting.  Please be sure to carve out 45 minutes for your audition including wait time. 

AUDITION FORM

The form will be available at auditions. Please include a headshot and resume.

PERFORMANCE DATES

Performances will be July 25th - August 10th. Performances will take place from Friday to Sunday. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 6:00 PM

TECH REHEARSAL

Tech rehearsal will take place from October 4th to 9th. Please note that tech rehearsal is mandatory for all actors. 

AUDITION PREPARATION

WHAT TO BRING WITH TO AUDITIONS

All actors should have their conflicts prepared to present at the time of auditions. Please bring a resume and headshot with you. For the dance portion, dress comfortably and wear shoes you can dance in. For the singing audition, please bring sheet music marked with your prepared 16–32 bars. An accompanist will be provided.

DANCE AUDITIONS

Dance auditions will consist of a choreographed number. 

SINGING AND MONOLOGUE AUDITIONS

For the singing portion of day two, we ask that you prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of “Singin’ in the Rain” or from the show itself. For the Monologues we ask that they be a length of 1-1.5 minutes. Please remember to sign up for a time-slot above.

DIGITAL SUBMISSION

Auditions for Singin’ in the Rain will be held in person on Friday, March 14th and Sunday, March 16th. If you’re unable to attend one portion, you may submit a digital audition for that portion.

Full digital submissions are also accepted.

All digital materials must be submitted by Sunday, March 16th, at 7:00 PM.
